About the 2024 edition
The BBA Artist Prize is back again for the 9th year in a row. With more emerging international talent to display, BBA will return to Kühlhaus Berlin with our renowned shortlist exhibition. After receiving thousands of applications of all themes and mediums, BBA and the jury have carefully selected a premium array of artists for you to enjoy.
On Saturday 01 June, our acclaimed jury will announce the winners of the prizes. You, the audience, will also have a chance to participate in voting for the Audience Award.
2024 Winners
Dominik Adamec
1st Prize was awarded to Dominik Adamec from the Czech Republic for his sculptural works.
Theresa Reiwer
2nd Prize was awarded to Theresa Reiwer from Germany for her video installations. She intertwines current debates with fictional narratives, creating hybrid installations at the intersection of media art, post-digital theatre and expanded cinema.
Barbara Boekelman
3rd Prize was awarded to Barbara Boekelman from New Zealand for her abstract paintings. Alternating between figuration and abstraction in the many layers of paint, she uses representative imagery as a point of departure, gradually surrendering to a predominantly abstract fusing of colour and form.
Jade Cassidy
The winner of the Audience Award was Jade Cassidy from South Africa/Germany. Her sculptural works are inspired by the transformative processes of flora and fauna from her motherland, highlighting her journey to mental and emotional healing.
